This year’s 10th anniversary Camellia Show will run daily between 10am – 3pm
Come and admire the rare and historic Camellias in the Grade 1 listed Conservatory, a gorgeous array of blooms; pink, red, white and striped. Visit the collection of 33 different varieties, many of which are descended from the original planting in 1828. Among them is the unique Middlemist’s red, originally brought from China in 1804 by Londoner John Middlemist, a nurseryman from Shepherds Bush.
‘It really deserves a visit. Very beautiful conservatory and gardens. I loved the visit today.’

Free ‘Camellia Tours’
Our knowledgeable volunteer Garden Guides will be offering free Camellia themed short tours (approx. 35 mins) at 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Camellia Show. They will give an overview of the history of the main gardens including the Italian Garden, Conservatory and its historic Camellia Collection. The tour will also include a visit to the Walled Kitchen Garden where our volunteer gardeners will be preparing the garden for the season. After the tour you will also have time to view the flowering camellias at your leisure. Maximum of 25 people per tour but please no large groups to enable as many people as possible to enjoy a tour.
Name That Camellia
We have an unregistered camellia with a beautiful bell-shaped pale satiny pink flower that needs a name! Grown from seed by Pat and Herb Short (camellia experts and past chairman of the International Camellia Society). The winning ticket will have the Camellia registered under their chosen name by the International Camilla Society and the winner also gets to plant the camellia in their own garden. Tickets are £5.00 with all proceeds going to the upkeep of our Historic Camellia collection. Tickets can be purchased in the shop at weekends.
