The gardens at Chiswick have been loved for centuries. With their combination of grand vistas and hidden pathways, architectural delights and a dazzling array of flowers, shrubs and specimen trees, they create a unique oasis in this corner of London.
The gardens were originally created by Lord Burlington and William Kent in 1729 and were inspired by the sights of the Grand Tour and the romance of classical Italian landscape painting.
The 75 minute tours start at the Sphinx topped gate piers at the entrance to the Forecourt of Chiswick House. You will view the highlights of the gardens and hear about their history and renovation including the lake, Ionic Temple, Classic Bridge, Italian Garden and the Conservatory.
Tours are free, although donations are welcome and will go to support the Trust’s work maintaining the wonderful Grade 1 listed gardens – donations boxes are in the Conservatory. For groups of 6 or more, please book an exclusive guided tour.
