Guidance for Visiting Chiswick House & Gardens

Visiting the Gardens

Chiswick House & Gardens is both an historic estate and a public park used by families, walkers, runners, and dog owners. We welcome dog walking on site. Our full dog policy can be found here and at notices on each entrance gate. Cyclists are also welcome, but must keep to the tarmac paths only and make way for pedestrians.

The estate works best when all our visitors show respect for everybody else. As a small charity we cannot employ enough staff to supervise visitor behaviour. We work closely with our local Community Support Officers, and we will involve the police if criminal behavoiur is suspected on site. Visitors are advised there is CCTV coverage of parts of the estate.

If you have and observations or complaints about the management of the estate, please do get in contact at We welcome your support, and donations can be made here.

Coronavirus Policy – Updated January 2021

As of January 4th 2021, England is on lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Our priority over the last year has been to keep the Gardens open and safe for our visitors. We are committed to keeping the Gardens open as they’re essential to everyone’s mental and physical wellbeing.

Under current government guidelines you may exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person (in which case you should stay 2m apart). This exercise should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.

The café remains open for takeaway service only and masks must be worn while inside.

When using the Gardens for your daily exercise please remember the following:

  • Do not enter the Gardens if you have any symptoms – fever, coughs, shortness of breath – or are self-isolating.
  • Always keep at safe distance from anyone outside your household or bubble
  • Use all areas of the Gardens (that are open) & spread out.
  • If the Gardens are crowded, do not enter if you cannot stay at a safe distance from others.
  • Please help us maintain the Gardens by taking your litter home.

Please act with kindness & consideration for other visitors.
