Discover the House, Gardens, historic Kitchen Garden, artist studios and brand-new Learning Hub, all for free! With drop-in activities celebrating heritage, creativity and community throughout the day. 

For Open House on Sunday 20 September you are invited to our Community Celebration Day to:- 

• Visit Chiswick House for free – a Neo-Palladian architectural marvel designed by two Georgian trendsetters, William Kent and the Earl of Burlington, replete with ornate details and striking works of art 

• Visit the Kitchen Garden – sitting right at the heart of grounds is our 17th century walled Kitchen Garden, a beautiful productive space where visitors can wander, buy fresh flowers and produce and take part in drop-in workshops. 

• Open Studios – Drop in to discover the private workspaces of the inspiring group of more than twenty artists that work at Chiswick House & Gardens. The Studios were created in historic outbuildings around the Kitchen Garden in 2025 and are only open a couple of times a year.  Meet the makers, learn about their work, take part in drop-in workshops and enjoy a little shopping. 

•  The Learning Hub – Next to the Studios this brand-new building has transformed unused back of house areas into a space for everyone, bringing our heritage to life in creative, inclusive and practical ways.  Come and find out what’s happening in this fabulous new community space.  

• Visit the Gardens – created at the same time as the villa, the gardens at Chiswick House are the first English landscape garden and hold a special place in this history of garden design and architecture. From historic monuments and hidden pathways there is something to discover round every corner. 

Entry to the House will be free.  

There will be drop in activities in the Studios, the Learning Hub and the Kitchen Garden.   

Tours of Chiswick House are self-guided, with free tours (spaces will be limited) of either the House or the Gardens from 12.00-1.00pm
