Silent Space
The Rosary has been designated a Silent Space for quiet and reflection. The space offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy quiet time in nature, taking a break from the noise and chatter of daily life to enjoy the rustling of leaves and the sounds of the birds and wildlife in our Gardens.

Created in collaboration with Trinjan, a local women’s community and social group, the space includes thought-provoking poetry and writing to encourage visitors to deepen their connection and appreciation for nature. It also provides some much-needed solace from the ill-effects of noise pollution, helping support a sense of physical and mental wellbeing for the community.

The Silent Space project is a nationwide initiative started by Garden writer Liz Ware which finds biodiverse, nature-rich green spaces and marks them out as places for reflection and contemplation. Our Head of Gardens Rosie Fyles is a trustee for the project, which has been running since 2016. Our space is the first Silent Space in England to be opened in a public gardens that’s free to enter for everybody every day.
