Dogs
Dogs and puppies (plus their owners) are extremely welcome at Chiswick House and Gardens!
Dog playground
In 2024, we opened a new dog playground, where dogs all of shapes and sizes can run, jump, weave and wander through a specially-designed obstacle course!
The multi-stage course was developed from old timber, fallen trees and wood from across the gardens, to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly area for pets to play in.
You’ll find the playground, sponsored by local pet specialists Dogtown, near our café and children’s playground.
Eat and drink together
Dogs (on leads) are welcome in the on-site Colicci Café.
London x London even singled us out as one of their ‘Brilliant Dog-Friendly Cafes in London’, saying:
Chiswick House boasts a dog-friendly Café situated amongst 65 acres of wilderness and lakes – your dog will absolutely love you after this excursion…
Get the most out of dog walking
We have plenty of paths and routes around the grounds which are perfect for dog walking.
We just ask that you help us keep our woodland, lawns and gardens safe, healthy and fun for everyone by sticking to the below:
Take the lead: please keep your dogs and puppies on a short lead where signposted – in the Italian Gardens, Kitchen Garden, Café and Café area.
Scoop that poop: thanks to Chiswick House Dog Show Committee and the Dogs Trust, free bags are available at every gate and we have plenty of dog bins. Please ‘bag it and bin it’ to keep your favourite places beautiful and safe.
Look out for the signs: look out for signs for our no dog areas in the picnic area, kid’s playground and Cricket Pavilion and square. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside the House, Conservatory or Shop. Dogs are now allowed into the Kitchen Garden on a short lead, and we ask that you keep dogs under close control in the Italian Garden.
Keep them close: not everyone loves dogs, so please keep your furry pals close by you, and ensure they are under control at all times. Crucially, do not let your dog chase or disturb any wildlife by the lake.
Keep them dry: Dogs may enter the lake area, but we ask that you keep them out of the water itself: this can be distressing for wildlife. Please also avoid throwing any objects into the water, or doing anything that might encourage your dog to enter the lake.
Assistance dogs are welcome inside our House, Kitchen Garden, Café and Shop.
For your information and protection please see the London Borough of Hounslow Dog Control Orders.
