Support our biodiversity-boosting programme by logging your Chiswick House & Gardens wildlife sightings
Can you help us monitor and protect the diverse and wonderful wildlife that makes its home in our gardens? We’re asking our visitors to get involved in logging and recording key bird, mammal, amphibian, reptile and invertebrate sightings, to help us keep track of how our efforts to boost biodiversity are paying off.
There’s no commitment – you can get involved when and how you like, as many times as you like. Logging a sighting just takes a minute, and every one will help our team build a picture of the different animals that live here, and the different habitats they’re making use of.
Why we’re doing this
In 2024, we kicked off Letting the Light In, a targeted programme of work, funded by the Rewild London initiative, that saw us open up thickly overgrown areas to manage the woodlands in a way that boosts their biodiversity, protects natural ecosystems and guards the health of our precious mature trees.
We’re keen to see how this work pays off in the years to come – and we’re also excited to start monitoring just how well our ongoing site-wide efforts to protect pollinators and grow in a sustainable, wildlife-friendly way are paying off.
That’s where we need you to get involved.
How you can help
- To log a sighting, fill out the form below, using the drop down menu to name the species you saw and whereabouts in the gardens you saw it.
- We’d love to be able to monitor every single species that makes its home here, from spiders to squirrels, but we’ve decided to keep this project relatively limited for the time being, which is why you won’t find everything you might see on the list.
- Once we’ve got enough data, we’ll publish reports and updates about what’s been spotted and where. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay posted.
