Chiswick House & Gardens Wildlife Art Competition

Calling all artists and nature lovers!

To celebrate the launch of our ‘Wild Watch’ citizen science project and our Wild Day event this April, we’re excited to host our very first Chiswick House & Gardens Wildlife Art Competition!

Judged by local artist Jaixia Blue—creator of last year’s popular Flower Feast Kitchen Garden trail —this competition is open to all ages and is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your creativity while celebrating London’s incredible wildlife.

Whether it’s a bird, bug, butterfly, or blossom, we want to see artwork inspired by the most exciting wildlife you’ve spotted and your most-loved experiences of nature —in Chiswick House & Gardens and across London’s green spaces.

Entry is free, and limited to one submission per person.

Chiswick House Wildlife Art Competition: Rules

This competition is open to both children and adults, encouraging everyone to celebrate nature through art. Please read the following rules carefully.

1. Eligibility

  • The competition is open to participants of all ages, with different categories for children and adults. If you’ve got a birthday coming up soon, please use your age on April 1st 2025 to help you decide which category to enter.
  • Children aged 6 and under are eligible for the Little Ones Category.
  • Children aged between 7 and 10 are eligible for the Over 7s Category.
  • Children aged between 11 and 15 are eligible for the Over 11s Category.
  • Participants aged 16 and above are eligible for the Adult Category.

2. Theme

  • The theme for the competition is “London Wildlife”.
  • While we’re big fans of digital art, for this competition we’d like to see traditional hand-drawn/painted art (whether that’s crayons, felt-tips, pastels, charcoal, oil paints, etc).
  • Artworks can feature any trees, plants, bugs, flowers, mammals and/or birds found in London and its green spaces.
  • Interpretations of the theme can be as creative as you like… but the depiction of wildlife should be the focus.

3. Submission Requirements

  • All entries must be submitted digitally via email to marketing@chgt.org.uk with the headline ‘Wildlife Art Entry’.
  • Artwork should be in the form of a high-quality image file (JPEG, PNG, or PDF format).
  • Please include the name of the artist and the category they are entering in the email.
  • Each participant is allowed to submit one artwork only.
  • Parents/guardians: when sending us your child’s/children’s artworks, please make sure to tell us which age category they fall into.
  • The closing date for the competition is midday, Wednesday April 16th. Winners will be announced the following week.
  • There will be prizes for the winners in each category.

4. Social media

  • We would love to share all your beautiful entries on our social media accounts! For entrants aged under 16, only first names will be used. For entrants over 16, please let us know what you would prefer.
  • Please let us know in your email if you do NOT want the artworks you send us to be shared on social media.

Any questions? Get in touch with us at marketing@chgt.org.uk

We can’t wait to see your artwork—good luck!
