Antonia: Behind the Myth of Marie Antoinette
Experience a stunning operatic portrait of Marie Antoinette in Baroque Gesture, created by Olivia Doutney & produced by Susanna MacRae for Liberata Collective, taking place within beautiful Chiswick House.
Written as an intimate retelling of the lesser-known parts of Marie Antoinette’s life story, Antonia explores the Queen’s experiences through the music that surrounded her.
Through 10 scenes, Olivia Doutney’s one-woman interpretation explores Antoinette’s experiences through her relationships with Gluck, Piccinni, Joseph Bologne the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Sacchini, Dussek and her mother, the Archduchess Maria Theresa.
This is a rare chance to experience Chiswick House come to life with music, transporting visitors to a space of opulence that perfectly complements the show. Attendees may enjoy knowing that Marie Antoinette was a personal friend of former Chiswick House resident Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire.
