Our Community Programme

Increasing access and supporting wellbeing for all in the beautiful spaces in Chiswick House & Gardens.

Our Community Programme creates opportunities for local people and community groups to connect with nature, heritage and one another. Through gardening, creative activities, volunteering, community-led projects and shared experiences, we aim to make the historic spaces in Chiswick House & Gardens accessible and inclusive to groups who may otherwise be excluded.

Through the programme, we have worked with a range of partners, from older people’s groups and refugee and asylum seekers, to ESOL learners and parent-and child groups, making the most of the beautiful spaces in Chiswick House & Gardens – from the productive Kitchen Garden and the light-filled Learning Hub & Hard to the historic rooms of Chiswick House. Our offer is tailored to the needs of each group, guided by the Five Ways to Wellbeing and principles of co-development.

Our programme is delivered through four key strands:

  • Gardening Together: seasonal gardening activities in our historic Kitchen Garden
  • Community Self-Led Visits: opportunities for groups to explore Chiswick House & Gardens at their own pace
  • Co-developed & Community Partnership Projects: projects created with community partners around their interests and needs
  • Creative Programme: creative activities and projects that encourage people to explore the gardens, heritage and their own ideas
  • Food and flower donations: we donate thousands of kilos of freshly-harvested fruits, vegetables and flowers to local charities each year
