Opening soon: New Community Spaces

New indoor–outdoor spaces, purpose-built for schools and community groups to learn, connect and improve wellbeing.

Opening in September.

Every year, hundreds of children and community participants take part in our workshops, gardening sessions, creative projects and seasonal events. We’re getting ready to open brand new spaces that will allow even more people to get involved, increasing access to green spaces and opportunities for learning and improved wellbeing for all.

Centred around the beautiful Kitchen Garden, the new Learning Hub, Learning Yard and Kitchen Garden Hub will support curriculum-linked visits, creative workshops and hands-on nature learning sessions for schools, volunteers, community groups and visitors throughout the year.

The Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is a new net-carbon-zero building created for school and community programmes. It will provide a welcoming indoor base for year-round visits, with flexible space for workshops, practical activities and group learning, complete with dedicated space for lunch and bag storage.

School sessions will encourage children to explore biodiversity, food growing, sustainability and local history through activities experiences rooted in the Kitchen Garden.

The Learning Yard

An outdoor space, nestled between the Learning Hub, glasshouses and the Artists’ Studios. The space includes outdoor seating, wet weather cover and abundant planting to continue nature-based school sessions and community workshops even under the summer heat or wet weather conditions.

The Kitchen Garden Hub

The Kitchen Garden Hub will provide practical facilities to support volunteers and visiting groups, including sheltered seating, kitchen facilities, storage and accessible toilets.

These additions will help make outdoor learning, community engagement and volunteering more comfortable and accessible in all seasons, creating new opportunities for thousands more people to benefit from these beautiful green spaces.
