The Heart of Design’s curators, Art Jar, have created Design in Nature, an immersive experience for kids (and adults) to enhance interaction and exploration in the Kitchen Garden.
This site-specific trail encourages visitors to use all five senses whilst experiencing the natural world and observing its influence on built design.
Pick up a trail and a kit from the Conservatory Shop use all five senses to explore the Kitchen Garden. The trail ends with a participatory installation in the Conservatory which visitors can add to.
Design in Nature is in the Kitchen Garden, included in admission for Chiswick House and Kitchen Garden, open Thursday-Sunday, 11am-4pm). The Kitchen Garden is open until 29 October 2023. Enter via the Conservatory. Book tickets.
About Art Jar
Art Jar Ltd is a local community arts events organisation collaborating with artists and communities to empower through creativity. Art Jar was founded in 2017 by Aysha Khan and Nadine Fletcher. Both are visual artists with backgrounds in working with communities from gallery education to youth arts providing community cohesion through creative workshops and events.
Aysha Khan is a multi-disciplinary artist working within textiles, mixed media and installation, exploring nature and wellbeing. Travel influences her practice inspired by natural surroundings and interactions with people.
Nadine Fletcher is a multi-disciplinary artist working within installation and interaction exploring socio-political themes through the tactility of materials and how we interact with people and the world around us.
Art Jar has evolved through Aysha and Nadine’s shared passion for working collaboratively with communities to tell their stories through art.
