Curated by local arts organisation Art Jar in 2023, The Heart of Design featured newly commissioned artworks created in response to the theme ‘300 years of built and natural design’. Part of 2023’s creative programme, alongside our ongoing Black Chiswick through History project, and resulting from collaborations between artists and local community groups, the works explored how design within the historic house and gardens has been inspired by the exchange of ideas, art and traditions from across the globe.

The Heart of Design featured artworks by Tanvi Kant, Leah Muwanga-Magoye, Art Jar and Nava Ahmed, plus collaborations with community groups: HAAYA with Nava Ahmed and The Rivercourt Project with Kite Studios.
